HoneyBook vs Dubsado in 2026: Speed, Depth, or Door #3

HoneyBook and Dubsado are the two names every solo service pro hears first, and the internet argues about them like sports teams. The argument is mostly people talking past each other: they are built for the same buyer but opposite temperaments. One optimizes for how fast you are live. The other optimizes for how exactly the machine fits once you have built it. And if your business involves a crew and a driveway, there is a third door neither side mentions.

The short answer: HoneyBook is live in a weekend and prettier out of the box, from $29 a month with team members metered below the $109-plus tier. Dubsado is deeper and cheaper over a year ($335 to $525 annually, three users included) but expect one to two weeks of setup. Service businesses with real-world jobs and crews should look past both at HoundBell, from $57 a month.

I build HoundBell, the third tool in this comparison, and I have run a service-business agency since 2017. Both facts shape my read; the scorecard below is played straight.

Where HoneyBook wins

Speed and finish. Templates look client-ready before lunch, payments and contracts are frictionless, and the learning curve is a gentle slope. If your close depends on a beautiful proposal experience and you would rather run your business than configure it, HoneyBook earns its price. The costs to watch: team members are metered until Premium, and the branding removal you probably want lives on Essentials and up.

Where Dubsado wins

Depth and yearly math. Branching workflows, custom-coded forms, and per-year pricing that undercuts HoneyBook’s upper tiers make Dubsado the power user’s pick. Setup is the toll: the owners who love Dubsado are the ones who finished building it. If you know that is not you, respect that.

Where neither fits: the driveway problem

Both tools assume the work happens in documents and meetings. A cleaning company, a landscaper, a contractor lives elsewhere: a booking that must respect drive time, a crew that needs today’s jobs on their phones, a quote for extra work found on site, a review request that fires when the job closes. HoundBell was built from that day backward: pick your trade, and the pipeline, form, agreement, booking page, and follow-ups arrive wired. Crew logins are free on every plan, and the crew can clock in, take photos, speak notes, and even quote from the job with office approval. See the owner demo or what the crew sees.

Quick answers

Is Dubsado cheaper than HoneyBook?

Over a year, usually. Dubsado Starter at $335 a year lands near HoneyBook Starter’s $29 a month, and Dubsado Premier at $525 undercuts HoneyBook Essentials’ regular price while including more automation. Factor your team: three users come with Dubsado; HoneyBook meters members until the top tier.

Which is easier to learn?

HoneyBook, and it is not close. Most owners send their first HoneyBook proposal the same weekend. Dubsado owners describe setup in weeks, and the ones who stall in the middle get the worst of both worlds.

Can a cleaning or landscaping company run on either?

You can bend them into it, but you will feel the missing pieces fast: crew scheduling, route order, recurring visits, and job-site workflows. That gap is exactly what a cleaning CRM or field-service tool exists to fill.

The verdict

Same lane, different temperaments: pick HoneyBook if you want to be live this weekend and love polish, Dubsado if you will genuinely build and want the exact fit plus better yearly math. If your work happens at addresses with a crew, skip the argument: HoundBell starts at $57 a month with nothing metered, free crew logins, and your trade pre-built.
