Job profitability: what each job really made

Open Insights, then the Job profitability tab. Every job whose date has passed shows revenue next to what it cost:

  • Revenue is the invoice tied to the job. When you write an invoice, pick the job under For job. If you do not, HoundBell matches the client’s invoice to the job closest by date and marks the row “matched by date”.
  • Labor is the time your crew clocked on the job (or entered by hand), at each person’s pay rate from the Team page. Salary is spread over 2,080 hours a year. Time by someone with no rate set is counted in hours but flagged as unpriced, so set rates first.
  • Materials and Subcontractors are expenses from Books, Expenses, where you picked the job. Contract labor expenses count as subcontractors.
  • Profit is revenue minus those three. Overhead such as rent, insurance and software is not spread onto jobs.

Switch between By job, By service, By crew and By client. The callout names your most profitable service and any jobs under 30% margin. Sort by margin to find them. Export CSV for your accountant.

The same numbers sit on each booking under Job cost.

Job profitability is part of the Scale plan.
